What is Molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB)

A molded Case Circuit Breaker (MCCB) is an advanced version of a miniature circuit breaker (MCB breaker) and is an automatic electrical device. MCCB circuit breaker is a type of circuit breaker that protects the circuit from overloading, short circuits, and current surges. MCCB breaker is superior to MCB due to its higher current handling and adjustable trip-setting functionality. MCCB can handle and interrupt a very large current, it has a movable trip unit and very small tripping time thus fast switching during fault current. It also offers a remote ON/OFF feature and has a compact design.
Molded Case Circuit Breaker offers premium features that make it a superior circuit breaker such as remote closing and adjustable trip settings, which means, the electric power settings and time settings can be adjusted according to our needs.

MCCB circuit breaker is the core element of the LV switchgear power distribution system and is used to protect the low-voltage distribution system against a short circuit.

AMM1 Series MCCB circuit breaker

AMM1 Series Moulded Case Circuit Breaker Fixed Thermal & Fixed Magnetic setting. The AMM1 Series MCCB Circuit Breaker is a premium offering from Axiom Control Pvt Ltd. It is specifically developed to safeguard power lines and equipment from potential damage from short circuit and overloading. MCCB AMM1 series is enriched with remarkable features, including fixed thermal and magnetic settings that serve as overload, short-circuit, and under-voltage protection in the distribution system.

The operation principle of MCCB breaker is, that it protects a circuit from the current. It uses thermal and magnetic mechanisms to break the power currents. The thermal mechanism is used for overload protection while the magnetic mechanism is used for short-circuit protection. AMM1 Series to provide reliable and robust protection for your power equipment needs.

This offers reliable protection against instances of overloading, short-circuiting, and under-voltage. Overall, the Axiom AMM1 MCCB series offers excellent protection and versatility while serving as a premium solution for guaranteeing the continuous operation of electrical systems.

Three different models of the MCCBs in the AMM1 series—the AMM1-125, AMM1-250, and AMM1-400—each with a different frame current rating are available. These devices feature an AC800V-rated insulation voltage and can be utilized in 3- or 4-pole arrangements. They have rated working voltages of either AC400V or AC690V and can function at voltages ranging from 40V to 400V.

The rated impulse withstand voltage and arcing distance of the MCCB Breaker AMM1 series are 8000V and 50mm, respectively. The L, M, and H grades of Miniature Circuit Breakers are available, and the breaking capacities vary based on the type and quality. In contrast to the operating short-circuit breaking capacity, which ranges from 22 kA to 65 kA, the limit short-circuit breaking capacity is between 35 and 100 kA.

Application of MCCB circuit breaker

An electrical protection tool frequently used in industrial and commercial settings is the MCCB Circuit Breaker or Moulded Case Circuit Breaker because it offers security against electrical failures such as overloads, and short circuits and handles very high currents, they are used for heavy-duty applications such as in industries.

Hence, MCCB switch is mainly installed in commercial and residential buildings and heavy industrial areas due to their adjustable trip settings and higher current handling and adjustable trip setting capabilities.
